Chiropractic Care

When most people think about chiropractic, neck pain and back pain probably come to mind first. Those are common reasons people visit Care More Chiropractic, but Dr. Kristen Welsh looks beyond where it hurts to consider how the spine and nervous system are functioning together.

Whether something has been bothering you for a few days or seems to trace back years, the first step is figuring out what may be going on and what you’d like to change.

What Is a Subluxation?

Dr. Welsh uses the term subluxation to describe an area of the spine that isn’t moving or positioned as it should and may affect nearby nerves. It can be related to an old injury, everyday habits, prolonged sitting, or other stresses on the body.

You may notice stiffness, tenderness, swelling, or an area that simply feels “stuck.” Chiropractic adjustments use small, controlled movements to help improve joint motion and positioning.

More Than One Way to Adjust

Everyone is different, which is why Dr. Welsh doesn’t rely on a single adjusting technique. In fact, she may use five or six different approaches throughout a typical day.

Depending on your needs, techniques may include:

  • Thompson: You may hear the drop table move during the adjustment, though the technique itself is gentle.
  • Webster: Dr. Welsh is Webster Certified and uses this technique during pregnancy with a focus on pelvic positioning for mom and baby.
  • Gonstead: May include side-posture adjusting.
  • Diversified: A hands-on adjusting approach.
  • Activator®: Another technique that may be selected based on the individual.
  • Logan and SOT: Additional approaches Dr. Welsh may incorporate when indicated.

Chiropractic for Different Ages and Needs

Having several techniques available allows Dr. Welsh to adjust her approach for different people and stages of life. Patients may visit us for concerns such as back or neck pain, headaches, sciatica, shoulder pain, TMJ concerns, carpal tunnel symptoms, pregnancy-related needs, or after an auto accident. Children also visit the practice for chiropractic care.

Custom Foot Levelers orthotics are available when they may be useful as part of a patient’s overall plan.
